Commanding spectacular views over the Firth of Forth and surrounded by the secluded, wooded parklands of Dalmeny Estate, Barnbougle Castle is the ideal location for a luxury wedding celebration.
Only a minute’s drive from Dalmeny House, the majestic family home of the 7th Earl of Rosebery, the castle is well located as a wedding venue — secluded, yet close to Edinburgh and easily accessed.
Wedding Spaces
Barnbougle offers the most memorable of wedding spaces – with some of the best views Scotland has to offer.
Its rooms are versatile and inspiring, ranging from the stately and magnificent to the intimate and secluded.
Host your ceremony in the grand Scottish Library, which boasts thousands of books and opens directly onto sea-facing terraces and private beaches.
The sixty-foot-long Banqueting Hall has a Minstrel’s Gallery and breathtaking views — perfect for your evening reception, dancing into the small hours.
Capacity
The castle caters for up to 140 guests for a seated ceremony and dinner, and up to 200 standing. There are some exciting updates coming soon: Rosebery Estates is working on a new addition — The Walled Garden — which is expected to be ready to host weddings and events from 2025 / 2026 onwards.

The majority of our couples who choose to be married in Scotland are from the US and are planning a bespoke destination wedding. Over the years, we’ve seen a consistent trend: couples opt to fly into Edinburgh, spend a couple of days in the capital, and enjoy a “Scottish experience” rehearsal evening in the city.
There are some lovely Scottish venues in the heart of Edinburgh to host your rehearsal evening, including The Ghillie Dhu, Contini, The Dome, and more. Our team will work with you to choose the best location and venue for your evening prior.
The wedding day at Barnbougle Castle is magical.
Guests will be transported by coach to and from the castle, with our chosen piper waiting to greet them as they arrive and take their seats ahead of the ceremony. Wild Thyme, the preferred caterer, will serve a delicious selection of canapés during the cocktail hour and ahead of the wedding breakfast.
It really is a breathtaking wedding experience.
