LOCATION

Commanding spectacular views over the Firth of Forth, surrounded by the secluded, wooded parklands of Dalmeny Estate; Barnbougle Castle is the ideal location for a luxury wedding celebration.

Only a minutes’ drive from Dalmeny House, the majestic family home of the 7th Earl of Rosebery; the castle is well located as a wedding venue. Secluded, yet close to Edinburgh and easily accessed.

WEDDING SPACES

Barnbougle offers the most memorable of wedding spaces – with some of the best views Scotland has to offer.

Its rooms are versatile and inspiring, ranging from the stately and magnificent to the intimate and secluded.

Host your ceremony in the grand Scottish Library, which has thousands of books on display with open access onto the sea-facing terraces and private beaches.

The sixty-foot-long Banqueting Hall has a Minstrel’s Gallery and breathtaking views, perfect for your evening reception dancing into the small hours.

CAPACITY

The Castle caters for up to 140 guests for a seated ceremony and dinner, and up to 200 standing. There are some really exciting updates coming soon to the Castle with Rosebery Estates working on a new addition: The Walled Garden. We believe the garden will be ready to host weddings and events from 2025 / 2026 onwards.

At Coleen McKay, our team have planned many destination weddings at Barnbougle and would be delighted to assist in planning your luxury destination wedding at the castle. The majority of our couples who choose to be married in Scotland are from the US and are planning a bespoke destination wedding. Over the years, we see a similar trend, with couples opting to fly into Edinburgh, spending a couple of days in the capital whilst enjoying a “Scottish experience” rehearsal evening in the city. There are some lovely Scottish venues located in the heart of Edinburgh to host your Scottish rehearsal evening, including The Ghillie Dhu, Contini, The Dome and more. Our team will work with you to choose the best location and venue for your evening prior.

The wedding day at Barnbougle Castle is magical.

Guests will be transported by coach to and from the castle, with our chosen piper waiting to greet guests as they arrive to take their seats ahead of the ceremony. Wild Thyme are the preferred caterer and will serve up a delicious selection of canopies during the cocktail hour and ahead of the wedding breakfast.

It really is a breathtaking wedding experience.
